I have always worked hard and, since I was 17 years old, have always been employed. I’ve kept my family fed and clothed. I’ve managed to find a little extra for renting a cottage at the lake in the summer.
This past year has been a challenging one. I work in a grocery store, so I was one of the lucky ones to keep my job even though many of my friends were furloughed. As I saw what was happening in America and the world this year, however, I realized that I needed to do something different with my life. I needed to get a better job — one that makes a real difference in people’s lives, promoting healing and goodwill.
One of my friends mentioned career coaching to me. I had never used career coaching services before, so I wasn’t exactly sure of the benefits of career coaching. I was concerned about the potential cost, especially since we don’t have many extras in our household. However, my friend had used a professional career coach before, so she was familiar with how it had helped her discover not only how to get a raise and how to get a better job, but also how to transform her life.
She recommended Career Storybook, which offers a low-cost online group program. I joined an online coaching group and discovered my own strengths and goals; the career assessments and career interest surveys were really interesting and gave me some great ideas. I discovered that I had an enormous capacity to care for other people and that being able to help others was my life purpose and career goal. The coach helped me align who I am as a person with my career. My online career coach helped me to develop a career coaching plan and career coaching goals.
With my coach and through work within the group, I decided to apply for a job as a nurse’s aide at a local hospital, which would pay for me to take classes toward becoming a licensed practicing nurse. My career consultant provided me with resume writing tips and job interview coaching. I got the job at the hospital and have begun nursing courses. I am also getting a raise next week. More importantly, I feel that I am really making a difference in the lives of people. I make patients’ hospital stay safer and more pleasant. Being able to do this makes me feel better, as well.
When I graduate from my program, I hope my current employer will hire me as an LPN. Career Storybook provided me with job search coaching tips and resume support. I am so glad that I decided to sign up for their career coaching. I am so excited about my life and career coach.
In Career Storybook, I have found the best online career coaching company. In addition to online coaching, if necessary, they offer job hunt support groups.
They changed my life.
